Ray Black, Jr
Ray Black Jr. got his first taste of racing playing games on PlayStation®. At the age of 14, Ray Jr. decided he wanted to have a serious go at professional racing and began to invest all of his free time in developing his knowledge of the Florida racing circuit and the Florida Late Model racing series.

After researching the industry and numerous visits to the track with his father, they felt the Florida Mini Cup Racing Association (FMCRA) was the best match. Three races (and a crash) later, Ray Jr. won his first “Heat” race for qualifying. With his dad serving as crew chief and Ray Jr. at the wheel, the newly quailed team went on to win the next race. This race put a young Ray Jr. against all the seasoned drivers in the field and it was at that moment it became apparent to everyone that Ray Jr. had the passion and potential to be competitive in the professional racing circuit.

With talent and determination, Ray Black Jr. took the Florida Mini Cup Racing Association (FMCRA) Junior All Star by storm. At the age of 14, he finished in the top five in every race he competed in and the team secured the Championship for the FMCRA Junior All Star.

Black continued to move up over then next few season so the Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck Series and then into late models where he has competed for the last several seasons throughout the Southeastern United States.

Black had a standout year in 2015 when he finished 11th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings, earning one Top-5 and 12 Top-15 finishes in 23 races. With an additional 10 races and a bigger field of competition in the NXS, Black will be using the momentum and confidence he gained in 2015 to have an even stronger 2016 season.

“Running the full season last year gave me a lot of confidence that will help me this year,” stated Black. “We know we can run competitively at a high level of performance. We might have a little bit of an adjustment period with the XFINITY cars since we haven’t consistently run them other than the race we did at Texas in the fall last year, so we do have a lot to learn. But once we get a feel for the cars, I think we should be good to go. We really got some solid momentum going in 2015, and I don’t see why we can’t better that in 2016!”
